Expanded Pharmacy Coverage in Spain

This release includes a significant expansion of pharmacy coverage in Spain, where we added approximately 22,000 new naics_code = 446110 (Pharmacies and Drug Stores) POIs. This targeted sourcing effort substantially improves our coverage of Spain's pharmacy network, which is large and highly regulated, with pharmacies serving as a primary point of care for many health needs. The addition brings Spain's pharmacy coverage more in line with the density and distribution we expect from a country of its size and healthcare infrastructure. 💊🇪🇸

Gas Station & Convenience Store Accuracy Improvements

This release includes targeted accuracy improvements across gas station and convenience store POIs in the 447% and 445120 NAICS categories. As part of this focused cleanup project, we removed 34k POIs and improved open/closed accuracy on 10k POIs across these categories 🎯.

Key improvements include better differentiation between gasoline stations with convenience stores (447110) and fuel-only stations (447190), more accurate identification of standalone convenience stores (445120), and removal of fake, closed, or duplicate records that had accumulated in these high-volume categories.

This month, SG Places totals 77,372,011 POIs (including POIs with/without geometry, closed POIs, and parking lots) - a net decrease of 483,797. The decrease comes from our accuracy work as well as other cleanup projects, while we still advanced regular source updates, new brands, and targeted coverage work. Brand Openings and Closings

• We rely on POI metadata to track store openings and closings, and we are especially interested in understanding open/close dates for branded POIs. It can take more than a month to infer open/close dates, so we report brand open/close metrics on a one month delay.
• In this release, we flagged 647 brands with at least one store closure in June 2026 and 2,088 brands with at least one store opening in June 2026. Learn more about our open/close columns here.

Drops ⬇️

• We are ingesting many sources and due to source changes and processing changes, Placekeys do drop over time. In this release, we dropped 888,215 Placekeys (89,240 branded and 798,975 non-branded) due to targeted sourcing improvements.
